Workplace Hostility: Myth & Reality, part 1

While homicides in the workplace have decreased by more than 30% in the last decade, there remains a wide range of hostile behavior that still interferes with work functionality. Fights, sexual assault, bullying, vandalism, sexual harassment are now accompanied by fear of terrorism. Based on his book by the same title, this program will take the participants through the impact of a wide range of hostile and violent incidents on the workplace and workforce. In addition, this program will provide policies and protocols that may be introduced to the workplace to mitigate the likelihood of hostile events. In addition, services and programs that should be offered if a work organization does experience a hostile incident.

Learning Objectives:

1) Understand the wide range of hostile behavior in the workplace and understand it as a BC issue. 2) Learn of strategies to mitigate the likelihood of occurence. 3) Know what to do to help the work organization get back on line, if an incident does occur.
