A brief personal note and professional synopsis

Gerry LewisLet me take a moment to briefly summarize what you will find in this website.

In 1986, I left my position as Chief Psychologist at the Marlborough to co-found Mental Health Affiliates, a group private practice.

Shortly thereafter, I established COMPASS, an EAP specializing in municipalities and public safety. Combining this and my hospital experience I gained knowledge in the area of critical incident stress and expanded this from public safety to application in the private work setting. This culminated in authoring, Critical Incident Stress and Trauma in the Workplace (1994) and later co-authoring Workplace Hostility: Myth & Reality (1998).

In 2004, I was offered the opportunity to work with Boston University developing a new program on Emergency Management and Organizational Continuity. From this experience came the material for another book, Organizational Crisis Management: The Human Factor. (2006).

In addition, BU provided an entrée into on-line education from which came the co-founding of the Human Resiliency Training Institute (HRTI), providing web-based workshops for behavioral health professionals.

While these remain my primary responsibilities, I also provide expert witness consultation, speak at international conferences and consult to a wide range of work organizations.

I am very appreciative of all of these terrific experiences and the many wonderful people with whom I have had contact… and I look forward to more.
